Our Pastor
Charley (center) is unusual as pastors go. His training for leadership occurred not in seminary but at the Air Force Academy.
After 8 years in the Air Force, Charley left the service to enter the ministry. He began full time ministry as a teacher in Gateway Christian School, then became Pastor of Gateway Church in 1981.
Charley’s favorite life messages are “How To Hear God’s Voice”, “The School of Humility”, The One Necessary Thing”, “Sitting and Listening at His Feet”, “The Mystery Hidden From The Ages – Christ In You”, and Something Worth Waiting For – The Spirit Upon”.
Although Gateway is a small church, Charley has been given some amazing opportunities around the world:
Was invited by the European Baptist Convention to come speak to their leaders on discipleship. He went to their annual convention in Switzerland and did that.
Went to Peru on numerous occasions. On one trip Charley trained 700 church leaders on discipleship. On another occasion did a 3 day seminar with 40 pastors on Spiritual Leadership.
In August 2013, he went to a meeting of over 2,000 Uganda, Africa church leaders. Charley spoke 6 times at that conference and 2 other times at churches on Sunday.
Charley is worth hearing. His messages are Christ centered, Scripturally sound, and come from someone who has lived what he preaches.
